We are participating in an impact analysis project as a member of the COVID-19 Business Resources Working Group that is conducting a series of local business surveys.

Victoria provides employers with a skilled labor force
With a labor pool numbering over 185,000 potential employees within a 55-mile radius, Victoria leverages The Victoria College, Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent, and Texas Vocational Schools to deliver customized training skills to a ready labor force.
 

  • Texas is a Right-to-Work state.
  • Low union profile in the manufacturing sector.
  • Texas has the nation's second largest work force with over 11 million workers; and boasts the nation's third largest pool of graduate scientists and second largest pool of graduate engineers.
  • Texas has instituted major reforms in worker’s compensation, lowering employer’s costs substantially over the past several years.

Victoria College

  • The open admissions two-year community college main campus is located in Victoria along with their $22M Emerging Technology Complex dedicated to industrial trades training and workforce certifications. Victoria College also offers students associate degree programs at eight other centers located in Calhoun, Dewitt, Gonzales, and Lavaca counties.

Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent

  • The stated mission of Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent is to address evolving employer and resident needs through workforce development initiatives and partnerships, resulting in a skilled and educated workforce and a dynamic economy for the Golden Crescent region. 
  • They are equipped to serve the established and prospective business community in the seven county region with employee recruitment and pre-screening, customized training and education, and out-placement services.

Victoria Independent School District

  • Students enrolled in VISD have the opportunity to earn endorsement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, Business and Industry, Public Services, Arts & Humanities, and Multi-Disciplinary Studies allowing them to achieve workforce training and certifications, as well as college credit before graduating high school.

Texas Vocational Schools

  • Texas Vocational Schools is an accredited post-secondary occupational education institute of higher learning dedicated to hands-on career training.
