Jeff Klopfenstein, President of the Methionine Unit at Novus International, announced plans to expand Alimet production at a new facility thus increasing capacity and jobs, to members of the Victoria EDC at their Annual Membership meeting.

Formosa Plastics Corporation Texas, in Point Comfort, is investing $5 billion into a plant expansion that will extend into Jackson County and provide about 340 jobs. The expansion will broaden the company's plastic resins product line and increase overall productivity, said Bill Harvey, company spokesman. Construction began about two and a half years ago and is scheduled to finish in late 2018.

Major Employers

All economic indicators point to a bright future for the Victoria economy. Skilled workers, an ample labor force, in-place job training programs and a strong work ethic meet prospective companies when they enter the Victoria market. Regional employers boast that our local plants are the most productive within their corporate families.

Low union employment is reported in the Golden Crescent region which is comprised of Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria counties. Victoria draws employees from these counties and beyond.
