Jeff Klopfenstein, President of the Methionine Unit at Novus International, announced plans to expand Alimet production at a new facility thus increasing capacity and jobs, to members of the Victoria EDC at their Annual Membership meeting.

Formosa Plastics Corporation Texas, in Point Comfort, is investing $5 billion into a plant expansion that will extend into Jackson County and provide about 340 jobs. The expansion will broaden the company's plastic resins product line and increase overall productivity, said Bill Harvey, company spokesman. Construction began about two and a half years ago and is scheduled to finish in late 2018.

About Victoria EDC

Victoria Economic Development Corporation (VEDC), formed in 1982, is a private economic development organization created to serve the City of Victoria, Victoria County, and the surrounding geographical region impacting Victoria’s economy.

The key objectives of Victoria Economic Development Corporation:

  • To recruit new businesses, both international and domestic, in order to create jobs and increase the tax base.

VEDC is proud to provide services for companies moving within or relocating to Victoria including:

  • Identifying client needs and coordinating development efforts, i.e.. site location, buildings, infrastructure, skilled workforce, utilities, etc.
  • Working with clients as a liaison with the State of Texas, City of Victoria, Victoria County, and the Victoria Navigation District to obtain fast track permitting and ensuring projects successfully meet completion on time.
