The Victoria Independent School District is the largest public school system in the Golden Crescent region with 18 elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools and an Early College Center magnet high school. The facilities consist of 110 total buildings including a natatorium and fine arts center, 48 athletic fields and more than 2,100 employees. Also in place within the VISD system are specialized programs including a Career & Technical Institute that offers classes in welding, computer networking, food management and production, cosmetology, auto repair and building trades. An Advanced Learning & Early College Center, Magnet School programs, programs for gifted students, a campus at Devereux Foundation for those students with exceptional needs, and an alternative program campus provide students the opportunity for success.
The Calhoun County Independent School District has 9 education sites including one high school. Jackson County has three school districts; the Edna ISD, Industrial ISD and Ganado ISD. There are 13 education sites, including three high schools in Jackson County.

Victoria and the surrounding counties offer exceptional alternatives to public education.
The Archdiocese of Victoria is home to two Catholic elementary and secondary schools and one high school, with a combined student population of over 1,000 pupils. Additionally, the two elementary schools offer preschool programs. Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic school in Calhoun County offers kindergarten through 6th grade instruction. Other parochial schools in Victoria include Crossroads Christian School, Faith Academy, Trinity Episcopal School, and Victoria Christian School.
Victoria is also home to The Vine School to provide a customized learning environment for children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders and related Communication Disorders.
