Business Resources

Cultivating a business friendly environment

Community and regional support for business development is excellent and long-standing in Victoria. Competitive incentives including tax abatements, and training programs are designed to attract new business and industry to our community and VEDC will work to make your move to Victoria an easy one.

Victoria is home to one of Caterpiller's Manufacturing Facilities.

VEDC stands ready to assist prospective business and industry representatives with the information and tools they need to make a clear evaluation of our community when considering a development investment. As the contracted marketing agent for the City and County of Victoria, we serve as the liaison to negotiate available business incentives offered by the state and local government. We are also eager to help established businesses expand their local market.

More information about business incentives may be found here.

The Victoria Partnership

One of the VEDC’s greatest resources is the Victoria Partnership.

To answer the community’s desire for inclusion in the economic development process, VEDC began holding regularly scheduled meetings for both community leaders and citizens at large on September 12, 2000. With the exception of the year-end holidays, 30-50 people continue to meet each Tuesday morning to share a cup of coffee and conversation. The meetings are open to anyone with a role or interest in the economic and / or community development process.

These informal weekly meetings are held each Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. and present an opportunity for participants to share ideas regarding economic development relevant topics ranging from community assets, the economic development process, to education, or just general announcements.

The Victoria Partnership is clearly in the right place at the right time with the right agenda. Add you name to the list to receive weekly notices of topics, here.

Environmental

Victoria County has air attainment status. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality determines permitting requirements based on specific site and industrial processes. No limiting factors are anticipated at available industrial sites in Victoria County. The staff at VEDC and the Office of the Governor are available to assist with any and all environmental permitting issues.

Zoning / Planning / Building and Inspections

There are no restrictive zoning regulations in the City of Victoria or Victoria County.

The City of Victoria - Planning Department is a multi-functional department overseeing land development through the administration of the Subdivision and Development Ordinance, managing various community grant programs, transportation and air quality planning, as well as the implementation of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for the City of Victoria.
